The Paris Cinema Festival: A Week Dedicated to the Cinematic Arts

The City of Light pays tribute to the cinematic arts from July 5 to July 12, 2014 during a festival called Paris Cinema. The festival returns for its 12th edition this year, honoring new releases as well as grand classics. Guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg should not miss their chance to participate in the event, which combines glamor and art, this summer.

Most notably, two cinemas — the Gaumont Opera Capucines and the Louxor — will roll out the red carpet to welcome the premiers of some big films. However, the tradition goes that the films premiering at the Paris Cinema Festival are not announced until a few weeks after the Cannes Film Festival.

For those looking for a more classic experience, a cinema called the Nouveau Latina in the 4th arrondissement will screen many old films that have been restored.

This year, the festival will also focus on the contribution of French film by revealing never-before-seen films, homages to legendary figures, master classes, debates and conferences. What’s more, a special event called ‘Paris vu par…’ (‘Paris Seen by…’) allows international figures who reside in Paris to craft their own vision of the magical city.

One activity that is making its debut at the 2014 edition of Paris Cinema is an outdoor screening event that will take place at the Berges de Seine. On nights throughout the festival, the open air events will include cinema concerts, cinema remixes, and giant cinema karaoke.

Therefore, this film festival offers a little something for every kind of cinema fan from the lively and boisterous to the reserved and intellectual.
