At the Parc Floral in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, visitors can enjoy a variety of street shows and entertainment all within a charming environment. In an event called “Les Pestacles” — a play on words referring to the French word for shows (‘spectacles’), dancers, clowns and all sorts of performers will show off among the flowers of the scenic park near the forest of Vincennes.
In this way, families can enjoy performance art and concerts in a lively setting. The ‘Pestacles’ event was created more than 15 years ago as a children’s festival. It proved to be a bit hit with Parisians as well as visitors. The event now offers various journeys for families to embark on, like the reading journey for example.
Children will also enjoy participating in garden workshops that allow them to discover the joy of having a green thumb. The workshops are run by the professional gardeners and landscape artists who work at the Parc Floral. Tickets to the Parc Floral cost €5.50 for adults and €2.75 for children and young people up to 26 years old. Entrance is free for children under 7 years old.
The event is the perfect way for little travelers to discover French culture. It takes place every Wednesday starting at 11:30 a.m. Then, there is a concert starting 2:30 p.m. The activities will go on every Wednesday from now until September 24, 2014. This year, the festival will honor the whole continent of Africa, from north to south to west.
The festival will also explore urban cultures, beat-boxing, hip hop, rock and opera musics — thereby exposing participants to a wide variety of musical sounds. As such, guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg can discover new worlds of music and culture during their stay in Paris.
