The 19th Arrondissement Welcomes Spring with Performing Arts

The Printemps de la Création, meaning the ‘Spring of Creation,’ is a multidisciplinary festival that brings together many different types of performing arts. From now until June 30, 2014, the Art Studio Theatre in Paris is welcoming 47 companies who will perform a total of 80 shows representing various arts, including theater, dance, music, storytelling, puppetry, circus arts, poetry and readings.

The events cater to a range of ages with storytelling and clowns for children and readings, poetry and serious theater for adults. In this way, visitors to Paris can celebrate spring in a cultural way. The goal of the Art Studio Theatre is to be a meeting point for all kinds of creators, authors and artists as well as the public who wishes to interact with them.

While the ‘creation space’ in the theater is allowing 41 companies to perform their finished creations onstage, the ‘discovery space’ welcomes the works-in-progress of six companies. All-in-all, a visit to the Spring of Creation is a sure way to be exposed to a large number of artists from many spheres.

Guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg can witness the excitement by visiting the Art Studio Theatre in the 19th arrondissement. Considered the underground, artsy part of Paris, this arrondissement is an area of the city that most travellers do not get to see.

Tickets for the performances cost €12 for adults, €9 for students. There are also some reduced fare shows for children, with prices starting at €3. A three-show pass can be purchased for €25. Shows in the ‘discover space’ cost €6. The Art Studio Theatre is located at 299 Rue de Belleville, post code 75019. It is accessible by metro, descending at the Telegraphe or Porte des Lilas station. This springtime festival is a must for anyone who wants to experience Paris off the beaten path.
