Travellers who come to Paris have plenty of activities to choose from when setting their agendas. From museums to restaurants to shopping, the City of Light has something for everyone. It is also the perfect place for movie buffs, as films are often given center stage in the many exhibitions hosted in the city. On September 26 and 27, 2014, film fans have yet another way to entertain themselves in Paris as a cinema-concert event comes to the Palais des Congrès, a large performance venue in the 17th arrondissement.
The event is entitled ‘Gladiator en Ciné-Concert’ in French but has also been called ‘Gladiator Live’ in other countries as it tours around the world. In fact, before the concert in Paris, ‘Gladiator Live’ will be performed in London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall in May 2014. No matter where you see this show, a night of powerful performance is guaranteed.
While the film is shown to the audience on a high definition film screen, a live orchestra will play the film’s score. In this way, the public can truly appreciate the musical accomplishments achieved by the film score’s composer, Hans Zimmer. The audience experiences Zimmer’s dramatic music performed live at the same time as Ridley Scott’s cinematic masterpiece plays in front of them.
The score will be performed by the 21st Century Orchestra as well as a choir. In all, 200 people will be on stage at the Palais des Congrès for ‘Gladiator en Ciné-Concert.’ Guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg can get tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event online. There, they can also get information on the area surrounding the Palais des Congrès, including restaurant suggestions in case they want to finish the night off with some fine Parisian dining.
