Explore the 6th District of Paris During a Major Art Event

Contemporary art takes over the charming Saint-Germain-des-Près neighborhood, in the 6th arrondissement, as 50 galleries welcome visitors to discover the latest trends in art and artists. The event is being held in order to provide a greater understanding of art by offering the testimony of experts.

This marks the 16th edition of the Art Saint-Germain-des-Près event, which goes from May 22 until May 25, 2014. Attracting everyone from knowledgeable collectors to art novices, the event offers learning experiences in three domains: modern and contemporary art, tribal and archeological art, and decorative art and design.

On the opening night (May 22), the participating galleries will stay open late, inviting event participants from 6 p.m. on. The galleries will also be exceptionally open during the Sunday of the festival. A list of participating galleries can be found on the Art Saint-Germain-des-Près website, along with a map of their locations.

Guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg can take a tour around the beautiful neighborhood that includes sights such as the École des Beaux Arts, the Monnaie de Paris (the Paris Mint), the Institut de France, the Place Saint-Germain and the Île de la Cité. As a result, the event allows visitors to discover some of the most interesting parts of Paris while at the same time gaining an art education.

Certain galleries, like the Lefor Openo are organizing exhibitions that will extend beyond the Art Saint-Germain-des-Près event. At the Lefor Openo, the exhibit ‘La Belle Vie’ will run until June 14, 2014. With exhibits, discussions and open houses, this event — situated in one of the most posh areas of Paris — is a must for anyone curious about art or culture.
