A Summer Festival Celebrating World Music at Bercy Village

The Festival Musiques en Terrasse (the Music on the Terrace Festival) combines two of the best aspects of summer in Paris: the going to music festivals and lounging on outdoor terraces. From now until August 28, 2014 visitors to Paris can hear some great acts perform in the open air in the 12th arrondissement of the city.

This is the second year that the Festival Musiques en Terrasse is being organized in collaboration with the team at the Parisian concert venue Petit Bain. Those who wish to participate in the festival can visit the Bercy Village at the Cour Saint-Emilion (accessible by taking Line 14 of the metro). That way, they can experience music from four corners of the globe during a series of free concerts.

The concerts will take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. until August 28. Every year, there will be a different ambiance, from pop and electro to samba and African music. As a result, guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg can enjoy some outdoor music from a wide range of genres during their stay in Paris.

This coming week, the pop folk group Cocktail Bananas, the trance artist Said Mesnaoui and the electro-pop artist Art Alexander will all bring their unique sounds to the outdoor terrace of the Bercy Village. Later on, Malagasy, Gnawa, Anatolian, Indian and jazz blues music will be performed throughout the festival.

Each concert lasts about one hour and twenty minutes and takes place outside. In case of bad weather, the performances will take place under the covered passages of the Bercy Village. The Festival Musiques en Terrasse is sure to be a breath of fresh air in the City of Light.
