Want a taste of the cool side of Paris? Look no further than Chacha, a bar, restaurant and club in the 1st arrondissement of the City of Light. From September 4 to October 16, 2014 there will be even more at the Chacha Club to keep visitors intrigued and entertained.
That is because the Scotch brand Ballantine’s is sponsoring a new concept called the Epicerie Ballantine’s where the patrons can choose from a variety of ingredients in order to create the perfect cocktail. Each person gets a basket that he or she can fill with different products such as fruit, vegetables, spices and aromatic herbs. After doing a little bit of ‘shopping,’ the basket is taken to the in-house mixologist who then chooses the Ballantine’s whiskey that is most appropriate for the items selected.
The personalized concoctions are then enjoyed around a large dining table, making the Epicerie a fun and social experiment. The concept was envisioned by Abderrahim El Asfar, who won a contest held by Ballantine’s to find the most innovative Bar Project in Paris. El Asfar, being a former bartender himself, already knew the ins and outs of mixology and has had this idea in his head for two years. Now, he finally gets to see his vision come true and everyone who goes to the Chacha Club can benefit.
Guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg can take advantage of the Epicerie Ballantine’s for six weeks in September and October. Every week will have a different whiskey theme, inspired by flavors such as honey, vanilla and cinnamon as well as iconic cocktails like the various Collins drinks. So don’t hesitate to stop by the Chacha Club to take part in this one-of-a-kind whiskey experience.
