A New Arts Festival Breathes Life into the Centre Pompidou

At the Centre Pompidou, the most well known modern art museum in Paris, a new festival is coming on February 20th. Literally entitled, A New Festival (Un Nouveau Festival), the event will run until March 11, 2014. During those three weeks, a variety of contemporary artists will come to the museum in order to reveal their life’s work and also provide dozens of free activities for visitors.

Participants include artists from the domains of visual art, theater and other types of performance art, ensuring that Un Nouveau Festival offers lively entertainment for people of all ages. In addition to interactive activities, visual exhibitions and seminars will also be a part of the event. For the seminars, the president of the Centre Pompidou has invited writers, historians and artists to share their vision of art, emerging forms of art and emerging worlds.

As for the activities, these are offered thanks to roughly 100 artists participating in the creation of living spectacles, artistic laboratories and open spaces for artistic expression. The common theme tying all of these things together is the concept of graphic art and invented languages. The events will take place in the Forum section of the museum, on the lower level next to the conference and performance rooms.

Guests staying at the Hôtel de la Tour Maubourg should head to the Centre Pompidou in the 4th arrondissement in order to get in on the action. Open everyday except Tuesday, the museum gives visitors plenty of time to not only see Un Nouveau Festival but also the rest of the museum’s exhibitions. While entrance to the museum exhibitions requires a ticket, access to Un Nouveau Festival is completely free.
